Where can I find a FREE program to repair a boot sector on one of the partitions of my hard drive?
Drive info
FAT16
Partiton Table - Not Found
Boot Sector - Not Found
FATs - OK
Root Directory - OK
Sub Directories - OK
The only apps I have found to fix this junk, went me to pay lots of money.
Any Help??

And you feel that the programers who wrote these excellent programs don't deserve to be paid?

Sucks to be you. Format and re-install.

If it's a FAT16/32 partition, type this: FDISK /MBR. This'll restore a default master boot record and will save your files.

FDISK /MBR
Will not work, as the drive can not be read, nor can I do it from another drive.

Oh well,
As I could not fix the boot sector, I formated the drive and then used Lost & Found (PowerQuest) to recover the files.
The drive works fine and all the files recovered where ok, it just took a bit of time.

This may be too late but fore anyone that is looking for a good program that fixs partitions and such look for a program called "ResQdisk" I cant think of the address at the top of my head but I will post it when I can find it ;) it has a free demo period of 30 days so that shouldnt be a problem like the free trials make sense anyhow who says that you cant just put your bois back in time and pretend that its 1998 all over again lol

They thought the y2k would be a problem joke was on them alll the money the spent
