reinstall DOS?

Hi, i have been having problems with Dos, i recive an error message saying "the system file is not suitable for running ms-dos and microsfot windows applications"..i went to microsofts site and it sounds like my dos files are screwed up, is there a way i can "reinstall" (i dont know if thats the correct word)..but reinstall Dos files ?

I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

Resolved - after being subjected to the usual pointless comment from 'crusty the clown'.
