All the sytem files are hidden and read only.

Why and please help

Why?
Well because if they were made to edit,remove or massage in any way 90% of the population would have non working computers.......

And yes I would be one of the first to be unable to boot up........gasp.....giggle

They are made read only to protect them.

To change this you use the attrib command.

attrib -R C:filename

+r = set read only
-r = clear read only
+a = set archive attribute
-a = clear
+s = set file as system file
-s = clear
+h = set file as hidden (invisabe file)
-h = clear
/s = processes all files in dir and sub dir.

Do be carefull. Again the read,hide ect attributes are there to keep the file safe from being overwritten or deleated.
