Need to load a different ramdrive size on a
computer that might have more memory. One will have 8meg and i need to make the ramdrive 4meg and the other will have 16meg and i will need to make that ramdrive 8meg. This will need to be autoconfig, as the same config.sys and autoexec.bat will be loaded on both systems. Have run in to a brick wall on this one .... any help would be great! :)

I really like xmsdsk.exe for making virtual drives. It allows a lot of control and is only 19kb in size. Here is how I use it in my computer (autoexec.bat loading):
lh c:\xmsdsk 36000 f: /t /y
the "lh" is for load high,
the 36000 makes a 36mb virtual drive
the f: gives it the drive letter f:
the /t and /y are mandatory but I forget why.Using xmsdsk.exe, you can make drives of any size, delete them from a dos prompt, make new ones, which makes it a very flexible program. It does not require any config.sys entry, just the autoexec.bat entry. You can use any available drive letter.
I like to use xmsdsk.exe to make a big 36mb virtual drive. My temp and cache files are placed on the virtual drive so when I turn my computer off all those useless files disappear.
You can download it from the public folder at my Yahoo briefcase:

or e-mail me and I'll mail it to you.Good luck!

I also am interested in setting up a ramdrive. I have the program that Preston refers to but do not know what to do with it, ie - where to install it, how to set it up so that my browser, Opera, can use it, and how to activate it. I am using windows 95. I would appreciate any help you can give me.
Thanks,
John
