My system configration is Intel Celron Processor 266 MHZ, RAM 128 MB, Hard Disc 18 GB. My question is whether 256 MB RAM would be compatiable for this system?

It's really a hardware question.

But you really need to find a tech in your area. Not every board will use just any memory.

If you're willing to take a chance on 'advice' from a forum, you should at least give **EXACT** specs.

The best place to find the correct information asto which memory can be used and its various configurations is the manual for your motherboard.

Be careful, information from memory suppliers may not be correct.

Good Luck - Keep us posted.

If you don't know what board you've got and/or you don't have the manual, then you may be able to find out using the bios string.

Set the bios to show the diagnostic screen (screen with attached hardware), unplug the keyboard and reboot. Without the keyboard present, you *should* be able to read the bios string.

Once you've got the string, try here to find out if your board is listed. That way, you can hopefully obtain the manual or at least find out its specs.

Good luck
