Comment:
Is PCDos/MSDos singletasking or multitasking? What kind of structure does it have? (e.g. hierarchical). What makes this OS unique from other OS's? What kind of an environment does it have? (e.g. single application, multitasking, multiuser, etc.) How does PCDos/MSDos perform memory management? How does PCDos/MSDos perform disk management? How does PCDos/MSDos perform I/O processing? Does it perform batch or realtime processing? What are the files that make the system boot up? What are the BIOS components? What are the command interpreter components? What are the utility components? What is the current usage of PCDos/MSDos in the market today? Is this OS growing or being replaced?

DOS is a very old single tasking OS dating to 1981. It is unique because the original MS-DOS/PC-DOS became a "standard" used by millions of people. No other OS had ever done that before. It is not multi-user or multi-tasking. MS-DOS uses io.sys and msdos.sys as bootup files. command.com is the command interpreter. BIOS is not part of DOS, your computer's motherboard has BIOS built in. Memory/disk/io management is not explainable in a short message like this. It's market share is virtually gone. It is not growing, but has been replaced by the Windows family of graphical operating systems like Win95/98/ME/2000/XP.
Summary: Very interesting posting about how you got the AMD Semptron 64 CPU to work with other hardware. Is it just me, or what, I did not see any questions concerning any standalone version of DOS? Just gene...
