Hi www.powerload.fsnet.co.uk/ and http://phobos.spaceports.com/~software/ms-dos/dos.htm are one of the same! The second being a sub-site of the first!

Anyway what versions do you want, None are listed!

I've got it all. Let me know what you want. I'm also interested in trades; I'm looking to complete my collection of PC- and DR-DOS, particularly PC-DOS 2000.

One caveat: some of what I've got (particularly the earlier versions of MS-DOS) is collections of the files only, with no bootable disk or boot sector, making the collection basically useless. In addition, the earliest versions require hardware no one has seen in years. 5.25" 160k drives, anyone?

I have DRDos 7.03 but it states that it's a 90 days demo version. I do not know if the os can still be used after 90 days. Are you interested?

I also have PC-DOS 2000. It's on its way to your mailbox.

Hope you can send the above missing os to me.
tks

5-1/4 Floppy drives? Yeah I have two or three. Maybe we can work something out! I just opened my 8086 today to clean it and have a good chuckle.

Hey Kevin Switzer, great if you can help. The only way to do it is,
1. I send you 360 image file
2. You spit it out into a 'real' 360k diskette
3. Use Winmage to copy the 360k image into a file.
4. Bingo.. Send me the file...

Please reply if ok.

tks a million

Just so you know, what Winimage really does, is to create image files of the disk, compress them with the common ZIP format, and save them with extension .IMZ.
If you just PKZIP your file and rename it to .IMZ, it will have exactly the same effect as writing it to a 360k disk and let Winimage copress it.
I.E: sending your files to mr. Switzer is unneccesary.

Thank JR for the info.
the purpose of requesting Switzer to convert is because he has a 360 drive and the image i have insist on a 360k drive and it will not spill into a 1.44. (or unless I find a utility to fool the bios that a 1.44 is a 360k, which I think is unlikely.

Dear JR, Your information is not correct!

WinImage not only saves a Disk Image, But also Boot Sector & Disk Label. WinImage reads the entire floppy disk, sector by sector, and writes this information to file.

Your suggestion WILL NOT recreate a Bootable Floppy Disk. Which is WinImages main advantage.

WinImages only disadvatage is that it is a 32bit Windows 95 program.

I cannot believe that you still can't get the program to write it to a 1.44Mb disk. It's easy. Even if Kevin extracts it to a 360K disk it won't do you any good because DOS 1.1 does not recognise 1.44Mb disks so you'll be in exactly the same position again. I made a boot disk using the image you sent me (1.44Mb disk), restarted and then formatted another 1.44Mb disk. It formatted to about 320K, nothing recognised it. I extracted the boot sector and system files manually from the image and wrote them to a 1.44Mb disk (I also verified that the files were not fragmented). When I tried to boot from it, it couldn't load the files.
So the point is it will only ever be able to recognise a disk with a maximum capacity of 360Kb, so how will you be able to use it?

I am not trying to use it. I am trying to put it into my collection. But in a more 'managable' way. Winimage is a more 'managable' way. (for me at least. Just a request)
It doesn't matter if it uses 360kb of 1.44 disk but so long as it boots, I am happy.

tks
