Okay, I purchased a Ps/1 and when i booted it, it went to windows 3.0 then to a red screen and shut off. i took out the hd and put in an new one with MS-DOS 6.22... But it wont book the hd, it goes to the ROMSHELL menu. when i use the IBM DOS 4.0 it says that C:/ is Rom. is there away to put this hd in or do i need the the setup disk and software disk...

HELP PLEASE

Check your jumpers and cabling.

I have a PS1, the ROM DOS reads as D:, so it does not appear as if yours is recognizing the new HDD

Is the drive seen correctly in the BIOS?

Yeah, I don't think I'd splurge too much on a PS/1. Irregardless, you're going to need the setup disk eventually if you plan on doing anything with it...

You can Google for (a.f.a.i.r.) "ps1diag.exe", but since IBM took down their pcbbs directory some months ago, you might have trouble finding a (legitimate/non-spyware) link...
