Proprietary CD-Rom Drive in DOS

I'm trying to install a proprietary cd-rom drive in dos, but I continue to get the following error message:

Illegal option
usage: MSCDEX [/E/K/S/V] [/D:...] [/L:] [/M:]

I read a few things on the extension and found that all of them are optional, except for [/D:]. The cd-rom is model CR-563-B made by Matsus---a (or Panasonic). I loaded the driver to a boot disk and changed the autoexec.bat and config.sys files to reference the driver, which seems to work until after the driver has been loaded. It says the 1 cd-rom drive has been found and that the driver has been installed, then it fails to the above error message and the A:\ prompt after that. Does anyone have any ideas or what I'm doing wrong. Here is how I have it listed in my autoexec.bat and config.sys files:

AUTOEXEC.BAT
@echo off
MSCDEX /D:CDMKE.SYS
PATH C:\DOS;

CONFIG.SYS
DEVICE=CDMKE.SYS /D:MSCD001

There's other stuff under config.sys, but it pertains to himem.sys and last drive=z. Thanks for any help provided.

That's a Creative CD drive (that's what the 'CR' stands for), an ancient 2x that runs from a SoundBlaster card.

That doesn't look like the correct driver in config.sys - I have that drive (it was my first one *g*)

You could check Creative's page, or else driverguide.
If you're completely stuck, I might be able to dig up the installation disk.

Thanks for the help jboy, but i think I figured it out. In the autoexec.bat file I changed the name of the cd-rom to match what I had in the config.sys file. It changed to MSCDEX /D:MSCD001 from MSCDEX /D:CDMKE.SYS. I made this change after reading something about it on another website about dos. The cd-rom works perfectly now.

That's good - I guess more than one driver works with that CD drive.

And, yeah, I should have noticed - the /D: 'signatures' have to match.
