I recently used a Windows 98 Boot Disk for my other computer that uses Windows 95. I used it to fix a problem involving "Himem.SYS file missing or corrupt. Error in line 2 of Config.SYS." Now I get the command prompt "A:\" with the boot disk, and a message that says, "Type the name of the Command Interpreter (e.g., C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND.COM.)" HELP! I dont know what to type or what it means!

Your command.com file is missing from your boot disk. create a new boot disk from windows. all should be fine afterwards.

Make sure you have the right version? It
appears you had Win95 and you used Win98.
They are not the same and would give the
command interpeter error message.

There is one other thing it might be besides a corrupt or missing command.com on the boot disk. The path could be causing you a problem. Windows 98 makes C:\Windows;
C:\Windows\Command part of the path. The command.com in the Windows 95 directory could be causing the error message. Diskcopy the startup disk and go into the config.sys on the Win 98 startup disk and del the path entries that refer to C: (If this does not help you have the copy) Do all this only if there is a command.com on the startup disk and keep in mind it still might be corrupt.
