I have been trying to fix up this computer for my dad, which was hooked up to a server which ran netware and windows 3.1. Well my friend came and did something to that computer which deleted the primary dos partition. Now when i reboot the computer it says "Invalid Partition Table". When I put in a windows 98 startup disk into the a: floppy it loads and a promp comes up A:> I try to type in A:>format c:/s but says "Format not supported on drive C:,Format terminated." C:is my HD.

What you need isn't format, you need fdisk. To attempt to repair the partition table (to make it easier on you) at the command prompt type FDISK /MBR.
If that doesnt work, just run FDISK without any parameters. Follow the prompts to delete all the partitions on the hard drive. Reboot and run FDISK again and create a primary Dos partition, set it active, then you can format c:\ all you like. If you need any more help E-mail me.
