ME uses a rather unique DOS version - are you using an ME startup disk? Maybe try another, or even a 98, depending on what the actual problem is.

Best bet would be to post in the WinME forum, and provide a detailed explanation of events.

Why don't they make computers that will do what we think we want them to do?

On another machine, goto run, type "command.com" press enter, insert a floppy into
drive a:, type "sys a:", it will say "System Transfered" there you go. :)

Not exactly the best advice (not much good on an XP machine, for example)- but you should probably submit any suggestions to the message in the WinME forum and not this one.

As details are slowly revealed, sounds like there's a hardware issue as well.

The secret of life is honesty and fair dealing..if you can fake that, you've got it made.

If you need also to format the harddisk you can type format c: /q /s

Now the harddisk will be quick-formatted and the system files automatically transfered.

You will find excellent bootdisks on www.bootdisk.com
