First, let me say I know almost nothing
about DOS. (I'm a Mac user)I am a member of an radio controlled car
club and we're using some DOS software
to count laps for our races. The races are structured into heats and
mains. We run 8 heats per round and 3
rounds of heats, and one round of mains.
We like to post the results for all the heats
and mains on our web site
(http://www.rcrcr.com)The trick is, although the software prints
results after each race (heat or main) it
only has the ability to export the "Main's"
results to a TXT
file to be used later. I would like to have
TXT files of all the results.I have been told that I should "create a
generic text printer" and print these
results to a file as the program generates
the printout.I don't have a clue how to do this... any
help?Thanks in advance
Scott

You have a nice indoor track. My friends
and I use to run electrics in the parking
lot. Question - does your timing system
automatically time the heats or is it a
push a key system? I was/is trying to make
a cheap version of an rf/id lap counter.
So far can't find a cheap high resolution
detection system.Any way to your problem.
The Generic Printer idea works if your
software works in a Windows DOS box.If you want to stay in DOS there are several
port capture software, like prn2file, which
captures the output to LPT1: and saves it to
a file. That will do the job for you.
