Printing to a serial printer from DOS

I know you need to issue the MODE command to print to a serial printer in DOS but I forget if its in the CINFIG.SYS or AUTOEXEC.BAT file and the syntax of the command.

goes in the autoexec.bat file and I believe the use would be "mode lpt1:=com1:" or something like that. Use "mode /?" to find how to redirect.
