printing from DOS programs w/ WindowsME

I am trying to set up a computer that is running Windows ME, but I have a DOS program that I need to print from. The DOS program is running fine in WinME, but I can't print. The printer is configured thru LPT1:, but I get an illegal operation error message from Windows and then have to reboot the machine. Any ideas?

In Windows ME SETVER.exe there is an entry of PRINT.exe 8.0. Since there is no PRINT.exe in Windows ME you presumably cna download one from Microsoft.

I have been having a problem printing from dos programs and the dos command line. I would get errors and a window popped up and said mgavrte.exe caused an error in kernel32.dll and would be shut down. After that I could print okay. I found out that mgavrte is part of McAfee Active shield. I disabled Active shield using msconfig and my printing problem went away.
