I have a problem with printing. When we print from a TCP/IP port with LPR and LPR byte counting on the prints go to a lokal print queue and they stay there for an hour. When I print the same PDF through DOS lpr -s ipaddress to printserver it goes fast. What is the problem? Does anyone have a clue?

The LPR byte counting takes a long time to count the bytes of an document. It should only be used, when you get problems on printing, like documents not fully printed or not all pages will be printed out.
Why did you use LPR and not RAW on you IP Printer? This normally works fine.
Please send a reply, if you solved the problem !!!

The print job and file has to be closed. Otherwise the spooler waits for a time before printing.

In RAW mode, you have to configure a port in the RAW settings. Normally it uses port 9100.
Is it a standalone IP-Printer?

We have a lot of users, lot of printers and 1 print/file server. Without an active directory. The users print to there local printspool, that has to go to the server, and it does, more then an hour later... than printer. We did try RAW and that goes fast but then the prints can't find the server even do the ipaddress of the server is used, so it spools fast but to knowhere...

Have you tried LPR printer without local print spooler. I remember, there was a problem in a library of Windows XP, that results in printing problems. Deaktivating the local spooler was a workaround for that problem.
You may give it a try.
