PLEASE HELP reformatting hard drive

I have an old NEC versa S/33. a while back i decided to reformat it. i tried and it got to 14% and stopped for a while and then said "not ready, format terminated". well now i can't even restart the computer without a DOS boot disk. SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME! is there another way to reformat this drive?

Open the case and find out the manufacturer of the hard drive. Go get a low level format utility from whomever makes it (if it's a Maxtor for example, go to the Maxtor web site: www.maxtor.com) and see if that will complete successfully. If you need help finding the web site for your manufacturer, e-mail me. I've downloaded low level format utilities for all of the major brands and should be able to get you a link no problem.

i have maxtor 20 gig .i,d like to have dos and win98 . how is the best way for make partition and format my h.d.d to have both of them. of course when i use quantum always use d.m so i make it easily .but i have problwm with maxtor so is there any software like dm for quantum that we can use for maxtor .please help me thank you
