Please, please, please help me! When I first booted my old computer(256 KB CACHE MEMORY,
66 MHz, DX2 CPU), the messages "CMOS battery state low" and "CMOS display type mismatch" appeared. My cousin went into CMOS and only corrected the date. Now when I turn on the computer, the CMOS error messages do not appear. However, the computer suddenly "freezes" when the statements "starting MS-DOS..." and then "HIMEM is testing extended memory...done." appear. How can I fix my problem(probably concerning CMOS) so that I can properly start MS-DOS and get into Windows? Any help you give me concerning this agonizing mystery will be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you thank you thank you!

See if you can get into the CMOS setup then restore defaults(by pressing the right key). I think you will need to buy a new battery. If you can restore defaults and still doesn't boot up properly go ahead and change the battery. Good luck

Yes set the cmos back to default, but also check the Hard drive setting are correct....
When the cmos loses it's settings only partially sometimes it has a setting that isn't right for the hard drive...and the hard drive is seen but won't boot fully.
It is more than likely your cmos setting for memory config, however you may find this of help
Cheers

I bougth a new printer (Epson 740) and I have not driver fot DOS. I am a doctor and works an Argentine Hospital) and I have a softward for consultory in DOS (clipper with Dbase data. I ca not change the softward because is very valious. I normaly printed with HP 670 , 520 and 310 whit no problemas. I used several (numerous) Epson options that I downloaded from Internet but I have not solution. I only can printed some data with dbase but without compression and I can not print in horizontal (landscape). I cannot print with the sistem from consultory. Hove you some driver for 740 that works in Dos similar to HP 670 o similar?
Please - can You send rapid answer and if you know some driver send for e-mail to download? In the other hand I need to buy other printer missing my many.
Thank you.

did you change from a monochrome monitor to a vga? "the display type mismatch" error message would indicate that the computer expects a different monitor. the same freezing problem happened to me with windows 3.1, the o/s expects the same type of monitor that was connected when the o/s was installed. if this is the case, you will have to re-install your o/s
i hope i was of some help. good luck

I would like know how to print the CMOS setup using windows. Also if you can tell me how to set the CMOS to have a half or of my main memory (RAM) for my video display and the rest for the main memory. Thank you for you help.
a new friend.
