Reply: (edit)Hey Hey Hold on a sec will you! You're just rushing it through! Wait up! You're trying to tell me that you've been using LINUX & WIN98 together & you still don't know how to work around with partitions & installing os'es! I don't believe this!! Anyway whatz your motive! Why do you want so many os'es installed? Decide on one thatz best for you & your hardware! i can help you with that if you want!! As for your question I strongly suggest NOT installing dos & win98 on the same partition. The consequences could be disastrous! Do mail me if you can! I can try & help you.

Reply: (edit)Dos will only install on a formatted drive with fat16 (fat) so make a backup of all partitions with ghost or Drive image before attemting this.In any case, you MUST have at least 2 drives with at least 1 gb each. 1.TIP:Buy a drawer for your harddrive and fysicaly take out the drive 2 with dos+98 or drive 1 with 98+linux. 2.Make a fat (16) partitions with fdisk making one 500 mb disk and one with the rest of space. install dos on drive 2 partition 1 (C). after installing dos and win311 (?). put in a 98 boot diskett and make a fat 32 partition of the rest. f.x.: you have a disk at 2 gig. Make in dos a primary partition of 500 mb.(C) format C after restart. install dos. restart using win 98 bootdisk. start fdisk with big disk support and make a secondary partition and logicaly part. of 1500 mb. format D. install 98 on d. When booting hit F8 and use former os.in msdos. Mail me if problems.

Reply: (edit)Ok, this is what i have so far... i made a 300 mb FAT16 partition, with partition magic, So yep , my hard drive is like this: a Windows partition, /dev/hda1 my extended partition of linux, the swap space is /dev/hda6 . And my new small fat16 partition, is /dev/hda7 Ok so i added DOS, /dev/hda7 to LILO . yep ok im my dos partition i have a 'dos' directory, with all the installation files of MS-DOS 6.22 . So yep what i want to do is install DOS in /dev/hda7 , in windows is the letter d: . ok, so i use the win98 boot disk, yep, i go to D: and type install , and it says i need to restart with the disk 1 MSDOS , i would do this but i have no idea wich files go in disk 1 ,2 and 3 . i just have i the files in the directory. So i tried this... i copied all the files from d:\dos\ to d:\ . And then i tried to boot from lilo, my d: partition, wich is /dev/hda7 in linux . OK, nothing happened when i tried to boot with lilo. ANy help , how to isntall dos in my d: partition ? Or maybe i could just create the 3 disk, but i have no idea wich files go on them. ok thanks

Reply: (edit) I have never run three bootable partitions, so this is a guess. You need to SYS the fat16 drive (SYS D: or SYS E:) with the DOS version you are going to use on it. Then, you make a DOS directory on the drive and copy the DOS files into it. Now you put an option to select it on your LILO boot manager and boot to it.
