pipe command not working

does anyone have any idea why I can't pipe from one command to another? The '|' thing just doesn't work. I'm running win98 on a compaq presario laptop

Having just run the command from the DOS prompt within Windows on my Compaq Deskpro and having it work fine...well, what command are you using it in conjuction with?

are you sure your're using the pipe key " | " also are you sure you are using the commands the right way, i mean as in the syntax.

this is a common problem with w98 make sure you use the correct "|" it is the key next to the 1 in conjunction with the "Alt Gr" key (next to the space bar on the right)....... the shifted \ key next to the z looks the same on screen but does not work...
