Reply: (edit)pinging a computer if you don't know it's IP/hostname is a bit like calling someone's name if you don't know it. You have to know more about the computer you want to ping.

Reply: (edit)In NT, the command net statistics will display all the computernames in your domain, then you can just do: ping computername If you're talking pinging someone on the internet then you're SOL. -Michael
