I tried Toshiba web site and couldn't find anything concerning PCMCIA and DOS. I have a Satellite 1625CDT. Also tried the other referenced posts and no go.

PCMCIA is one of the hardest drivers to match to laptops, mainly because the 2 main manufactures 'CardSoft' (SystemSoft) and Phoenix are not that helpful. Many Laptop manufactures cannot supply replacement drivers because of copyright problems.

All PCMCIA (PC Card) Slots need 'Card & Socket Services' software to enable DOS & Windows 3x to recognise them. This was provided with Windows 95 onwards. But Catch 22 is if you have a PC Card CD-ROM you need to get it going first! Once your Slot is recognised you need to think about the device driver!

You say that you have Also tried the other referenced posts and no go. But to what extent? Did you try to install the drivers?

One thing you can do, if it uses the same chipset, is to try IBM's website. They have cardsoft for my old 560Z thinkpad. Do a Search for it. PCMCIA DOS 560z and you should find the driver. It will install onto a floppy. When you are under dos, goto a: then type install. Follow the directions and everything should work.

In Config.sys

it will add something like
EMM386.EXE NOEMS xD000 xDFFFF
------------
This is VERY important. If that is not in there your addresses will not be open for the device to use. Make it simple if the memory range is not added to emm386 (it acutally prevenct emm386 from using that memory) THE PCMCIA ports will not work properly.
