Help! ... I need a dos based file transfer utility similar to laplink that will transfer long file names between two computers connected together by serial or parallel cable.
Have you tried useing LapLink yet. It will transfer Files by 'Short Filename' Long Filename is embedded in file, and can be used again on the other PC.

at www.filelibrary.com there is a communications section in their database of files that features at least a dozen shareware dos based serial and parallel pc to pc file transfer utilities. You can and will need to set up a free account with this resource first but the files available are huge.!!!!!
