I'm running NESticle the old DOS emulator. Problem is, I got no sound card cept the PC Speaker. Assuming that NES emulators use WAVs to make sound, I would think there would be a way to fool my computer or the emulator to think I have sound blaster and just emulate the WAV files through the PC. Does anyone know how I could do this?

It's in alpha development, and hasn't been updated for nearly a decade by the looks of it, but it might do the trick. I haven't been able to get it to do anything useful yet, but it's worth a shot.

I'm sure it should work for someone. For me it conflicts with fdxms.sys, and hangs if I load himem.exe instead, but there must be some way to make it work.

Without an XMS driver installed, it seems to work fine, but by then all the conventional memory is used up so I can't play many games that actually use the PC speaker.

I'm also using FreeDOS, which may do things slightly differently to other DOSes. It may also be to do with the fact that I have a sound card installed. Experiment, and see what happens.

Yeah, it hangs for me sometimes too if i use himem, and when i try to use the speaker as the device to emulate sound blaster, i put in port 42 as directed, but it wont accept it unless its something such as "/p042" instead of "/p42"
