I got this older Compaq Armada Laptop from a friend, and I want to install Win98se on it but it has no cd-rom. I have an external HP CD-RW 7500 but it's a parallel port device. Question: how can i get the CD-rom being recognized in DOS, to actually can install the OS? HP site does not provide DOS drivers for this model. I'd appreciate any help on this. Regards,

Without DOS drivers you will not be able to use the drive, suggest you look round for a second-user backpack cd which has drivers.
The other alternative is to use LapLink or similar to copy over files from a PC.

Just wanted you all to know that I was able to make the CD-rom to be recognized in DOS; I found EPAT drivers for DOS in the Shuttle web site (following an advice found in the drivers forum), and with some little mods to the config.sys and autoexec.bat the CD-rom was recognized. Thanks for the support!
