Does anyone know where I can find a copy of the above refernced drivers. I have tried dark horse, but perhaps I have tyhe wrong url, as i am not able to get to that site. I have an HP external CD-R/W model 8200. I have it connecetd to a compaq armad m700. I a, running DOS on the lap top and would like to install new operatin system. I can only do this by booting to the cd-r/w, but it is a usb device. I have tried network boot and nothing. I need any way to boot the laptop either to the network and dop an install or obtain windows 95 on floppy. Or the first option I questioned, which is the usb driver from panasonic.

W9x/ME should REM the DOS usb drivers out after install from config.sys/autoexec.bat

This not the same as your situation but the basics of making drive C: bootable with CD drivers for W9x/ME install is similar, obviously would need to add USB and USBCD drivers, any problems let us know!

Hi!
Version 4.4 of DUSE.exe now supports USB 2.0! This 'universal' device driver will work with USB Zip Drives, Hard Drives, CD-ROM drives, floppy drives and something called MO drives. Some people has been able to read the contents of the USB CD-RW disk with this driver. Give it a try.

You can download it from here:

Good luck!

Thank you everyone for your advice. Madmax I tried one of your methopd from a previois post and it seem to work, the problem is i have botched up the config.sys and autoexecv.bat file. could you give me a sample of what it should look like. I have a compaqu armada m700 notebook with a HP 8200 external cdWRiter via usb., What should my files look like for a succeessful XP install. I will try the duse if all else fails, but so far adding the drivers from moto hari are fine I just have assigned everything properly.

Create a DOS boot disk from your existing PC's Windows - this ensures that your partitions will be recognized.

You may have other drivers like HIMEM.SYS, EMM386.EXE, DOSKEY.exe...

I assume you don't have the CD drivers in there, so add these two lines into config.sys to enable the Panasonic USB + CD drivers:

device=usbaspi.sys /v
device=usbcd.sys /d:usbcd001

Add this line into autoexec.bat to map the CD drive to DOS:

mscdex.exe /d:usbcd001

This would then install the CD (fingers crossed) and assign a drive letter.
