how do i set a page length while printing in dos like 6" or 8 " page length ?

i.e. type autoexec.bat >prn

The question you posted can't be solved via a Dos command or setting, as it's related to the control language recognized by your specific printer. It is possible, in a more or less easy way to send an escape sequence to set the page lenght for the connected printer, but it's different according to the printer language, i.e. ESC/P for Epson, PCL for HP and compatibles, IBM streaming for IBM and so on.
So there is the need to know what specific printer you operate and its control language as stated above.
