O/S for Tandy model 2000

Comment:
I have been given a Tandy TRS-80 model 2000 Personal Computer with no Floppy Disks. Does anyone know where I can get an Operating Sytem for this? It originally was released with a special version of MS-Dos 2.11 - 2.11.03. Anyone have the disks, or know of any other O/S that will run on it?
I have started to write my own O/S (dos-clone) but with the extreme lack of information this will take some time!

go ahead...take a WHOLE hour.
Even my plate-twirling brother only goes as far back as the CoCo/OS9.

Well, as long as it has an 8088 CPU or later, any operating system prior to 7 would work, I think. Get DOS 6.22. I only wonder, don't you really have any floppy disks? Then it might be a little bit hard to install. I'd suggest that you install a floppy drive or else you will have a hard time.

The Tandy 2000 models come with their own bootrom. (dos 2.11 loaded in rom) So you don't need bootdisks or a harddrive to boot. If you still want it (send me an email), I have the original boot disk (if i can find it) including the dos utils like format.com i'm sure microsoft won't mind. this version hasn't been sold for 10 or 15 years

The Tandy 2000 uses proprietary 720k diskettes. You will not be able to use a 1.2MB or 640k 5-1/4" floppy diskette with the Tandy 2000. However, if I'm not mistaken, you can attach a newer drive to the Tandy 2000.
Good Luck!

I'd love to bother with something so old. Do you want to sell it?
