Olivetti 286 will not detect HDD

Hello,
I own an old Olivetti 286 PCM which has a 40mb HDD. The problem is that the system doesn´t detect the hdd. in the BIOS you can select the hdd and I also had the hdd installed in another system. It works all right. As far as I know the system came with to diagnostic diskettes which I don´t have. Does anyone own this files?
