Hello, I wonder how can I connect my old 386-2MB RAM laptop to my desktop pc(my primary PC uses win xp,I have another one with win98 too) using a serial null-modem cable via Telnet? Controlling my PC using my old laptop will give that old machine a use. Thanks in advance.
TelNet over an RS-232 serial cable doesn't make too much sense to me and i'm not sure how a 80 x 25 colour ANSI (text only) type of screen would allow you to control an XP Windows system... Maybe you'll get a more appropriate configuration by running a BBS on the XP machine while running some basic terminal emulator like 'MS-Kermit v3.16' or '{Commo} v7.7' on the 386 legacy PC. Note that you must have a FiFOed 16550A-type of serial port to make it really enjoyable...
I suppose 'SynchroNet' was one of the last BBS pieces of SoftWare to benefit from an active development effort in this century; it used to be available in several flavours including Windows 32-Bits, maybe it's OKay for your purpose but i wonder i'll admit.
