After using Fdisk to partition a 6 gig HDD into 3, 2 gig partitions (C, D, E) and rebooting, I receive the following message when the CDROM is driver is being loaded: "Not enough drive letters available". I'm running DOS 6.22. How do I get the OS to recognize a drive beyond E:

i think that might have to do with the line in your config.sys "last drive=_" it probably says lastdrive=f (kinda a default-)
change that to like m or q or something- it should work

If you don't have a lastdrive statement in your config.sys file, add one that says--
lastdrive=h
You can go all the way to Z, but it uses up environment space.

You can always go into your autoexec.bat and on one line theres something like: mscdex /mscd001 /l:d Its not important if thats all right, most computers are different, you want to look at the "/l:d" part, change the d to f or something, that will be your new cdrom drive letter

Mscdex.exe can assign drive letters to the CDRom, but the error said the letters were not available, the proper lastdrive statement is what's needed.
