Does anyone have a copy of Norton Utilities 8.0 for DOS. Please may I have a copy of u. I have tried 4.5a but it seems as it can't read my FAT32-partition and I hope ver 8.0 will help me with that.

Sorry to tell you this Jonas, But Norton Utilities for Version 8.0 for DOS is also unable to read a FAT32 partition as well.

Sad fact is that 'most' DOS utilities cannot do this, maybe becouse they are not designed themselves to be used with it.

"Saving Unformat Information"! What is DOS doing when it says this? It certainly is not putting the information in memory or copying to another drive. I have the suspicion that DOS works one side of the CPU register or the other in 16 bit. So it is just leaving your old files right there and moving over to the other half of the 32 bit CPU to format.

DOS does not FORMAT a disk at all, all it does is change the first letter of each and every file and records this information within the FAT. So it just hides your files.... Oh I forgot to say sometimes it does it so well that even it forgets where it hid them..Ho ho

By the way whats this got to do with FAT32 and NU 8.0?
