having got my floppy drive working--- a new cable---- am trying to boot up with dos 6.22
it comes up with non system disc or disc error----i dont know what other disc to use
any ideas anybody

the reason its saying that is that the disk inst bootable.
is this the hard drive or the floppy?

try removing the disk and booting from the hard drive.

sys a:

will make the disk floppy disk bootable

When you "SYS" a drive--floppy or hard drive--you put the system files on it including Command.com which is not hidden.
"Non system disk or disk error" means you do not have the system files on the drive being booted from or they are corrupt causing error. Or the disk is bad.
O.K. You either need to put system files on the disk or get a new disk is what the error message was telling you.
