I have a 486DX machine running on DOS6.22. For some strange reason it is not willing to create usable UMB's during the startup procedure.
The first 3 lines of my config.sys read: DEVICE=C:\HIMEM.exe DEVICE=C:\EMM386.exe NOEMS NOVCPI DOS=HIGH,UMB
I tried different parameters for the emm386 program, but nothing works. Why does it work on all other machines except for this one ? Can it be a hardware problem ?
There are no error messages as far as I can see. Everything works fine, except I have 0 kB upper memory available.

You may be infected with a virus. I had the same problem with a work PC running W311. I installed a anti-virus program, and everything went back to normal.
