I removed a 5 1/4 inch drive from this system and installed a LG cdrom from another computer (downloaded drivers from LG). The IDE cable for hard disc had a second connector but wouldnt reach so I got another cable and plugged it into IDE 2 on motherboard. Set cdrom jumper on master, went into cmos setup and set secondary master to cdrom. Designated drive B as not installed. Problem: Computer still recognizes B as a valid drive and I cannot access cdrom..(cannot determine that it has a drive letter..tried switching to every drive letter in the alphabet with no success). My autoexec.bat file contains this line" c:\cdrom\msdex.exe /d:mscd000 /l:d" but still no drive D..Help, anyone??????? Thanks

Did you install the driver in CONFIG.SYS?

ex
device=cdrom.sys /D:mscd000

Unless you made an error in the messages, your cd drive names are not the same.

config.sys mscd00
autoexec.bat mscd000
