I hope someone can help me I am really stumped.
I am trying to set up my dos box as a mp3 server so that my windows 2000 box can access the files as a client.
Now i have downloaded the necessary ms network client 3.0 from MS website and also the server file WB something.
This is not the problem....the issue is I cant get the dos box to see its own NIC...I have a 3com etherlink III and have downloaded the driver program from 3com but when i try and install using the autoconfig option I reboot and the computer on boot up says
Loading 3 com driver
Error: can't load protocol managerthen from there on i just get error messages and it finally states that the driver was not loaded.
If someone can help me out and maybe tell me what my autoexec.bat and config.sys should have in it to load the drivers correctly, i would be eternally grateful
NB: I have tryed changing slots!

I recently got the same message while trying to install the same NIC on a 486.
I finally got a message that said that NIC was configured for an EISA compatible computer and I was trying to set it up on an ISA computer.
It said to reconfigure it for ISA, install the NIC in an EISA computer and set it up for ISA there.
This may or may not be your problem. If you have access to a computer that is EISA compatible, stick it in there and try to configure it for ISA.
Good luck,
