Okay, I've got a laptop that I am trying to transfer files off of so that I can format. I have a FAT32 volume that HAD Windows 98SE on it, but that didn't work, so someone installed Windows 95 over it. But because it is a FAT32 volume, windows 95 doesn't seem to work (I think that's why) but it will still boot to the Windows 95 version of DOS and still let me access the hard drive. I need to transfer some important files off of the hard drive via my network before I can format. Is it possible to get networking with the Windows 95 version of DOS, or do you actually have to be in windows for it to work? Because the version of Microsoft Network that's on there doesn't seem to work. I tried installing Client for Microsoft Network 3.0, but there were a few complications. Any suggestions as to how I can get my files off of there or get my network running?

Download two W98SE boot disks from www.bootdisk.com and run the following software from a boot floppy on the PC and LapTop after connecting the parallel ports with a laplink cable:

As to you W95 FAT question well:

W95A supports FAT16 max 2GB partition
W95B/W95C/W98FE/W98SE/ME adds support for FAT322

NT4 supports FAT16 max 4GB partition
NT5(W2K)/NT6(XP) adds supports for FAT32

Is this really a DOS question???????????

Also if you want to use a LAN connection look at:

Network Client 3.0 btw only works in pure DOS, Windows has it one network software.

My question is, is there a version of DOS that will run a Network Client, but can still access FAT32?

Site is down???

Maybe try:

PTSDOS 2000 PRO can be installed on FAT32:
http://www.paragon-gmbh.com/f_dos.htm

OpenDOS installs on FAT16:
http://horde.planetmirror.com/pub/drdos/OpenDOS.701/

this patch for OpenDOS gives FAT32 support:

If you have WIN 95B/95C/98 read this as well:

"Site is down??"

The site should never be "down". If there is any server problem at some time, try again later and then 99% it will work. Now it works.

Sorry W, keep your shirt on, I tried for 10 minutes with no response, and I was only answering his question as the poster obviously could not access your Site...
