I have a dos application that must print to multiple (5) network printers. The application is running from a server running NT 4.0. The workstations are a combination of Win95, Win98 and NT4.0. To print to a network printer I do the following:
NET USE LPT3: /DELETE
NET USE LPT3: \\SERVER\PRINTER
TYPE filename > LPT3
This works on Win95 and NT 4.0 workstations but, on a Win98 workstation, the
NET USE LPT3: /DELETE command generates a "error 18: (null)" error and does not delete any existing assignment of lpt3.
How can I get Win98 to delete a net use assignment?

You don't need to use the net use command with Win98 because when you add the printer on the Win98 workstation it asks "Do you want to be able to print from DOS based programs?" You would check yes & then make such you capture the port with the correct path to the printer. For example \\Server\HpLaserJet3. You should also be able to do this with the Win95 machines. You only need to use the Net Use command on the NT Workstations.
