i bought a old laptop off e-bay, needs to be re-formatted totally....i got a windows98 os from a friend but need still need to get dos installed, any help plz would be greatful

If the w98 is a full install [not upgrade] it should include DOS installation.

If it's an upgrade, you're sunk.


If it won't boot on the CD get a w98 boot floppy.

Well, if it's an upgrade you're not totally sunk. You'd just need to additionally find either a copy of Win95 or Win3.1 to provide "proof of ownership" of a prior version of Windows. And for Win98 you'd need all the Windows 3.1 floppies (the Windows 95 upgrade only required Disk #1). And M2G is correct, you don't need a separate DOS installation for Win98 (or Win95 for that matter)...
