I installed a new ntoskrnl.exe on my computer so that it would display a different picture instead of the windows xp thing when booting. the problem? the file didn't work! now the ntoskrnl.exe opens up ntoskrnl.exe instead of explorer.exe. I have a dos disk, but I have to access NTFS. the free ntfsdos thing is read only. I need to take my backup of it, and save it over the faulty one. can I save over in the free one? is there a way to fix my computer without reinstalling? will all my files be saved? THIS IS IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!!!!
