I can provide copies of DOS 6.22 .. Email with your requests and I will zip each disk up and then zip them into a self extracting archive which you can download. I will set the zips up to extract to drive a: so you will need 3 HD disks.

Has anyone had success downloading MSDOS 6.22?
...no, I didn't think so!
It's amazing to see how many requests there are for MSDOS 6.22 there are.
I've tried all the sites mentioned on Computing.net - no work!
The site http://ireland.iol.ie/~kellyswd/site/msdos.htm is difficult to download. All I have is the first file 'DISK1.ZIP'! The others don't download, they say 'Operation time out!'
Anyway, this file has the system files in it.
After unzipping it with WINZIP 7.0 or pkunzip, the io.sys, msdos.sys, and drvspace.bin files are no longer proper system files!
When making the first disk, I type SYS C:\MSDOS A: (which is where DISK1.ZIP is kept) the files do not get transfered!
'No system files found or invalid system files' is what it says!
Also when tring to copy the files to a floppy disk, making the label and file attributes the same, the message
'Invalid system disk, replace disk and press any key to continue...' appears!
Has anyone got some excellent ideas.
It would be appreicated.

Why not try running drdos or freedos both are a free download. drdos is only an eval. but it works for most situations

have simply found a way to run dos stiaght from the core of system suitcase on any power pc mac. yes full intergration through bootx and other linux for mac uses. ps will tell any one who aids me in obtaining a higher version of dos on how to do this.

Danny Louisseize, you don't need to format your drive to use 98. Install 98, then use the repair option on 2000 setup. You'll then have a menu where you can choose between the two. By the way, that kewlone site does have 6.22

http://www.kewclone has the actual files
(can't say if they work, downloading now)
But http://www.mercure.umh.ac.be/download/Microsoft/MSDOS622/
only has upgrade disks for users of 6.x.
Kewclone also has Win 1.01...

If must have all the features of MS DOS 6.22 then download PTS-DOS 2000 which is 100% compatible with MS DOS and has all the 6.22 features and more (and yes it will run windows 3.1).
Go to:
http://www.phystechsoft.com/en/ptsdos/download.html
and download the 'trial' version. The so called 'trial' version of PTS-DOS is fully functional. The only difference from the registered version is a one-minute delay
before starting. It is available in English, Russian and German. If you don't want the one-minute delay you can purchase a copy for $19 (which I have and I'm very happy with it).
Whatever you need MS DOS 6.22 for this will do. I promise, TRUST ME!!!!!
Otherwise you have two other options:
1. Buy PC DOS from IBM. Although Microsoft has stopped producing DOS for stand alone sale. IBM will still sell it. IBM and Microsoft collaborated on DOS so this is based off previous PC/MS Doses but with various improvements and can be considured 6.22's successor. You can find out more about the current version PC DOS 2000 (orginally called PC DOS 7) at IBM's website:

I should inform you however that IBM charge $49.50 for this.
2. Otherwise Go to the FreeDOS website:
http://www.freedos.org/
FreeDOS, while admittedly still in beta will probably suit the needs of most of the people requesting MS DOS 6.22. FreeDOS as you probably guessed is totally free. The owners of this site are also very helpful and tend to respond sharply to questions you might have. (I speak from experience!)
I would recommend none of you download Microsoft's DOS 6.22 from any of the sites mentioned by other posters on this page unless you actually bought a copy of the software orginally. Otherwise you are pirating software which you may not care about but I feel I should say anyway. All the sites I have mentioned offer ligitimate ways of solving your respective problems. If anyone wants to ask me any questions for any reason feel free to email me.

Yeah, that's true I forgot about DR-DOS which is a shame because its actually one of the best ones out there. I guess I'm just used to PTS now!
It's also particulary wierd of me as I actually used to own the drdos.org domain name (admittedly for a short period) before I gave it to Florian Xaver, who I should stress does a wonderful job and is very active in the ever srinking DOS community (particulary with Seal). The site is full of useful links and info on all the different DOSes!!
Anyway, as Trev said it is free for non-comercial use. Download it from:

You can get old versions plus long file name support drivers!
For comercial use you can only get a license for 50 users now!! Which I imagine (I don't actually know) is quite expensive!!
