Hi, my friend just pulled his old IBM 286 out of storage and there are some files on there that are saved in MS-Multiplan format. Now he wants to read the files, but he dosen't have the actual software. Maybe someone could tell me where to get it?
Thanks!

Hi Peter,
The first place I look for almost everything is ebay.
Look here:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=183&item=5138406160&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW
I can't tell from the page whether the disks will work on IBM.
If I was in this fix, I would look for a program that would import the multiplan files or convert them to some widely used format, dbf csv xls.
What is the file extension?
M$ says you can open it in Excel 5:

I'm pretty sure that MSWorks 5x for Dos can convert old multiplan documents..it runs just fine on a 286 and it's been freely available from Microsoft for some time now..not sure of the link tho..lightspeed's site may have it- you'll have to google for that site as all my links for it on this system are duds...
