I'm trying to use Microsoft DOS Network Client (whatever it's called that microsoft recommends instead of LAN Manager) and after loading the network drivers into memory with:
net initialize
nwlink
net start
I only have 400K even available in low memory. without network stuff I have like 580K. Memmaker runs and puts in some exotic emm386 line, but there seems to be some sort of conflict between emm386 and the net command. anybody know how to free up more memory with the dos network client running? running IPX and NetBEUI for connectivity to wkstns. Thanks

Include LH before each dos command. (LH nwlink, etc.) For programs that load from the config.sys (except himem.sys) put the "devicehigh=" in place of plain "device="
I don't recommend using memmaker in any situation. Also make sure that the ever important HIMEM.SYS line is in your config.sys file. In place of the emm386.exe line, you may want to try
DEVICE=EMM386.EXE /AUTO which seems to work most of the time.
