At my work we are constantly creating a two computer ethernet/TCP-IP network to download software from one computer to the other. The problem is that usually we don't know the IP Address at the other end and so we have to go through a stupid process to obtain it. Does anyone know of a utility (free) that will just go out on the network (in this case being only one other computer) and spit back the IP address. This would make life very easy!

If you have DHCP turned on in the network control panel for both computers, then use DHCP software like SyGate, then it will automatically configure the IP addresses and assign each computer a name.

If there are only two computers on the network just assign each a static IP address. That way they are always the same.
I.E.
Computer1 192.168.29.1
Computer2 192.168.29.2

Hope that helps,
