My printer takes long to start printing

Hi. I'm having problems when trying to print some date from my Qbasic programs (DOS version). When my programs try to print the data, the printer takes a long time to start working. I dont know if my Windows 98 has anything to do with it, but I've never experienced it before. By the other hand, I get this problem when running Qbasic from a Windows environment.
Can you help me to fix the problem? Can you tell me whats going on here?
