Hi Jiri,
If you had communications skills i'd recommend you make contact with BBS people, there are a few like me who insist to have a DOS environment where they can use their favourite BBSing applications. I've also read from the blind or visually impaired guys who prefer DOS because their electronic assistants were created for DOS (such devices are expensive).
I notice you have mathematical skills so an author like you might find a couple challenges worth your spare time, like building some SSH replacement for FOSSIL TelNet shims, etc. Let me invite you to my friend's place on FidoNet, "Check what a 8088 4,77 Mhz can do!" from my home page will take you to my BBS list where his own (OutPost) is included. The name is Sean, he knows more about programming than i do so it's better ask him for specifics; i will only be able to tell what tools would be useful...
