my 486 wont load anything

I just got a laptop, its a 486, it has a 200 mb hd and a floppy drive. It has dos 6.22 but it wont load anything from a disk. i have a couple disk sets of windows 3.11 but it load any of the. when i go to a: it brings up the drive, i've tried typing in various commands, setup,setup.exe,ect.. every time i try it tells me "general failure reading drive A" It also has a drive b: which i guess controlls the floppy to, but it comes up with the same error message.I'm entirely outa ideas. could sombodie please help me? thanks

That was a joke but a bad one. Just go into the set up and make sure the a drive is set at 1.44. If all the numbers are set in the bios setup then you may have a bad drive or a bad disk. A 486 is still a useable computer so do not let any one bug you about it. You just need to have it setup correctly.
