Want to replace W2000 with M$-DOS ?

Erase W2000 with DBAN first.

Don't forget to backup your data before:
To FD, CD, USB, ...

Then install like on a new PC.

Beware: M$-DOS supports only small HD's
(up to cca 2GB), so you might try
FreeDOS insead (up to (?) 128 GB).

DOS ideally needs to be on the first partition C: Alternatively search GOOGLE for DOSBOX which is an EMULATOR for running DOS Software.

Why do you need to do this?

Have you tried clicking:-

START - RUN - enter COMMAND (Hey Presto DOS)

Good Luck - Keep us posted.

Windows 2000 does not have MS-DOS:

CMD.EXE is NT COMMAND PROMPT

COMMAND.EXE is NTVDM (NT Virtual DOS Machine {emulated MS-DOS})

It says "available to MS-DOS", I do not see anything to do with MS-DOS here except it has allocated memory for using MS-DOS software. One can achieve this effect on other O/Ses, so no nothing to get over, it is not MS-DOS as already stated.

Roll on Vista with no 16bit sub-system whatsoever..

use partition magic to open free space before windows about 40mb then format it to fat then install dos there.

you can hide it from the operating system then use a bat file or mbr utility to unhide it to boot to windows or dos.
at start up
