How do i start in MSDos mode??? well is it harmful? would i be able to get back to my OS sellection menu?
i have currently two OS:
1) Windows ME (currupted during re install)
2) Windows XP (Working)well how do i start in dos mode ...
and one more question could i install MSDos 6.22 ... and make it availbele in OS selection screen??? that is with out affecting the other two OS without erasing any of the files in my hard disk aswell as the system files of my other two OS's???
please answer these question about MSDos mode and installing MSDos 6.22!!
Thank you

Wrong Jaspter. Windows ME cannot be started in DOS mode that way because it was removed, and Windows XP is based on the NT kernel so there is no DOS period. In both cases you must use a startup disk (floppy) to access DOS mode.
In order to dual boot with DOS 6.22 it must be installed first, and the partition must be FAT16. In this case you can't do it without losing reformatting.

That patch screws up Windows ME; it really messed mine up anyway. It's not worth hacking your OS; just use a DOS boot disk, simple enough.
Besides, the whole POINT of Me is that real mode DOS is removed for better stability and faster startup times; if you are going to hack DOS back into it you might as well stay with Windows 98.

Not a chance, you can't boot to DOS from XP. You must be thinking of the recovery console, that is not DOS though.

well i was wondering i can install MSDos 6.22 without formating all drives, without losing data???
my actual aim is to get in to my windoes me which was currupted in the process of re installing it, well i'm trying to install Dos is cause i want to execute:
'C:\WINDOWS\OPTIONS\INSTALL\SETUP.EXE'
i tried to execute it from within Windows XP but it said that i should run older versions or "DOS" and or DOS Mode to rn the winME setup file.......
so could i install DOS OS without loss of data and other OP's???
please answer, thanks in advance

Hi,
Try booting with a W98 boot disk and you should be able to get to your c:\windows\options\install\setup to reload WME. Be prepared to reboot XP to repair the boot loader after you reload WME so be sure your have your boot up repair disks made up in advance.

You cannot load dos 6.X on your system. Your drives would have to be partitioned and formatted as FAT16. Your drives are either one FAT32 and one NTFS or both at NTFS. Thus, you'd loose ~everything~ on both drives.
