Could someone please help me out here, my old NEC 486 hard disk is without a operating system. I found a free disk operating system from www.bootdisk.com (ver MS-DOS 6.22) and now I'm stuck, I use to know how to install DOS but its been awhile and I forgot could someone help me out with a dos command or two, I search high and low on the web frantically trying to find MS-DOS install commands, but turned out with no info. So could anyone please respond to this message "How can I make my PC boot MS-Dos from the HD drive." THANK YOU

The bootdisk you have is not an entire operating system but just the system files and probably some executable files like FDISK, FORMAT, EDIT etc.
Get a full DOS operating system
DR-DOS 7.03
ftp://ftp.lineo.com/pub/drdos/DR-DOS.703/images/Create the 5 install disks and then boot up with disk 1 in the computer and your installation will begin.
If you already have files on the hard disk and you want to start with a clean install then boot up to disk 1, escape from the installation, then, from the A: prompt type FORMAT C:
After the drive is formatted, reboot with the disk 1 in the A: drive and the installation begins.
Later use the command DOSBOOK to find out about commands and features of DR DOS.
